Presenting "Do, Undo, Redo": A commissioned artwork for RLB at The Shard
In June 2023, RLB relocated their London office to the Shard. To mark this occasion, I had the privilege of creating a bespoke artwork that celebrated RLB, their team, and their accomplishments.
The triptych painting created for RLB's new London offices is an abstract composition crafted from layers of collage and paint. It draws inspiration from weathered walls adorned with old posters and peeling paint, fostering a dialogue between historic architecture and its contemporary surroundings.
The collage incorporates papers collected from RLB staff, in and around The Shard, and scraps generated during its creation. Construction tools and techniques were employed to capture the urban architectural essence, while the materials and fragments evoke a sense of transitioning between spaces.
The textured composition suggests the passage of time, revealing glimpses of forgotten narratives beneath its surface. This artwork contemplates how architecture preserves memories and provides a canvas for new ones, reflecting on the interplay between time and space and the evolution of RLB and its projects over time.
